Latvian national sport - Skijoring!
Enjoy Winter motocross!

What is "Skijoring"?

A discipline of winter motorsport, modeled after a motocross race basis when a crew - rider and skier - is racing in a circular track. The distance is usually built on as flat ground as possible on land or frozen lake. On season 2017 we organize Latvian championships and Latvian Cup of Skijoring and Winter Motocross.

Competitions

It should be noted, that the event took place on Skijoring as well as Winter Motocross (with and without studs) and Quad races filling all day with tough battles. For this reason, knowing that winter is here to stay, Latvian Motorcyclist federation in collaboration with Skijoring Commission invites every athlete from Baltic, who is ready to race, to participate in this extreme winter sport and show their skills before the new MX season. Further it is possible to see the calendar of planned skijoring stages in 2015 and also description of skijoring and winter MX classes.

Latvian national sport - skijoring

Latvians has loved motocross for many years, back in time before our country got its independence, we already had many talented athletes in tracks. Even the cold and snowy winters couldn’t stop the riders who were thirsty for a chance to race, so a winter sport called skijoring became a very popular here and now it traditionally takes places in our calendars almost every year gathering many extreme racers and big crowds of MX fans.

Latvian Motorcyclists Federation, Skijoring Commission and its new head, five- fold World Champion in sidecar cross - Artis Rasmanis with co-operation with Motoceoss Commission - invited all athletes to participate. Artis Rasmanis himself even went to track few days before the competition, to see if everything is prepared. “The snow is enough and the track is ready - all arranged so that after a longer break skijoring competitions can be organized again in its classical comprehension - in snow rather than ice. Skijoring is alive and returns to Latvia with all its traditions. If someone living in other city is hard to believe that snow is enough, I assure that in this part of Latvia you can come and see the competition in real winter conditions, because the snow ramparts on side of the road extends over half a meter. From the Commissions side everything is ready, so we invite athletes to take out their licenses and join this seasons races - we are looking forward for them!” has said.
